Fall is a great time to take advantage of the cooler weather and organize your home and surroundings. Making sure you keep your home in tip top shape will only benefit you down the road. Less unexpected surprises and more time to save money for any repairs that are found and needed. So, with that being said, where should you start? We've listed a few items below, but keep in mind that every home is different and may require additional tasks to be completed.
Inspect your roof for missing or loose shingles. Your roof is meant to protect your home from most seasonal elements, however overtime the snow, rain and wind can cause some damage. Conduct a visual inspection and call in the professionals if needed!
From the grill to the stainless steel, your BBQ could use a good cleaning after all the use it got over the summer. With a bit of scrubbing and elbow grease your BBQ will look brand new in no time!
- Pressure wash driveway & walkway
This is the perfect opportunity to wash away any dirt or chemicals that have
accumulated on your driveway over the summer.
Not only as part of your fall home routine, but this should be done
approximately every 3 months to ensure clean air free of dust and dirt particles.
If you have a wood fireplace, it's very important to get it cleaned and inspected by a professional each year. This will ensure that you aren't causing any damage to your home or yourself.
- Examine windows & doors for drafts
As the weather gets cooler we want to ensure that all our doors and windows are sealed properly. Caulking and weather stripping can help cut down on drafts and more
importantly keep the heat inside your home instead of outside!
- Organize garage & shed for fall/winter storage
Garages normally get pretty packed in the summer with home renovation materials, camping gear and other items you may have brought out. If you park your car in the garage during the winter it's best to get it prepped and ready to for your vehicle ahead of time.
Who doesn't love a nice green lawn? September and October are great month's to give your lawn those extra
nutrients before the winter arrives.
- Check pool cover for damage
We all love making the most of the summer heat by spending time by the pool. To make sure that your pool stays in the best shape possible, set aside some time to check your pool cover for any tears, cracks or other damage.
Other than that we want to wish you a great autumn season full of pumpkin spice lattes, cozy flannel and nights by the fire. Happy fall!
