What Criteria Should You Use When Selecting An Agent?
One of the best ways to select a potential Listing Agent to sell your property is to take a quick tour of the area in which you reside. This should provide you with the obvious answer as to which agent has the highest level of activity in the area. It will be apparent that certain agents will have more signs and therefore more prominence and success than others in a particular neighbourhood.
Choose one or two agents from the area that seem to be the most active and arrange to meet with them. Ask them a few pertinent questions such as:
How many years experience do they have?
What is their annual number of transactions?
In what price range are their transactions?
What are their availability (i.e. can they be reached on week-ends, holidays, etc.?)
From their responses you will have a clear picture of exactly what sort of agent you are dealing with and what their work ethic encompasses.
You may also want to ask questions so that you will be able you to evaluate the agent's level of efficiency, competence and market share. As well, an agent's client base and customer profile may make all the difference in the conclusion of a successful transaction and should be considered as salient points.
Finally, and this should go without saying, a climate of confidence, respect and rapport between the agent that you select and yourself is the final and one of the most important criteria when selecting an agent.
